The University of Liverpool, for the fourth year running, has held the Long Service Awards to honour colleagues who have spent 25 years and 40 years in service to the University.
The annual event was hosted on Tuesday, 25 June, by Professor Dame Janet Beer at the Victoria Gallery Museum.
Ten colleagues had achieved 40 years’ service (pictured below) and a further 27 colleagues were celebrating 25 years’ service (pictured above).
As a token of the University’s appreciation, staff were presented with a certificate and a gift of their choosing by the Vice-Chancellor. A song was also selected to represent the year each colleague started at the University during the award-giving.
Speaking at the dinner, Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer, said “Tonight we honour and recognise colleagues who have been employed at the University for periods of 25 and 40 years.
This is an extraordinary achievement – it shows true loyalty and a strong sense of belonging. To put this in some sort of perspective, those of you receiving a long service award tonight have collectively contributed well over twelve centuries of service to the University.”
Unable to attend the awards were a further 25 members of staff who have completed 25 years’ service and a further 10 colleagues who have completed 40 years’ service. One member of staff who has now left the University had completed a momentous 50 years of service.
