Update on Brexit – 31 January

From 31 January 2020 the United Kingdom will cease to be a member state of the European Union and enter a transition period to prepare for a new relationship with the EU. In light of this, information and support is available for students.

From 31 January 2020 to 31 December 2020, the UK will no longer be a member of the EU but will continue to be subject to EU rules and remain a member of the single market and customs union.  During this transition period the UK will negotiate its future trading relationship with the EU.

Within the context of the University, we anticipate current information on issues such as Fees, Erasmus and Settlement Schemes will remain same within this transition period.  Information for students on all of these areas and more is available at: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/studentsupport/advice/brexit/

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dame Janet Beer said: “We will ensure that we communicate frequently over the coming weeks and months with any further updates you may find useful throughout and following the transition period. In the meantime, please be assured that our commitment to our international agenda, and to our international colleagues and students, remains undimmed, despite our scheduled departure from the EU. We will always be an international, outward-looking institution.”
