Megan Clark is the Volunteering Assistant at the Guild and is studying for a PhD in Egyptology.

Here, Megan shares four volunteering opportunities that you can get involved with in Merseyside, which can all be applied for through the Guild’s website.

If you would like to make a difference we have one-off roles to regular volunteering, with something for everyone to get involved with!

You’ll find lots more opportunities via the Guild’s Volunteer pages.

1. Wirral Unplugged: Guest Speaker

Wirral Unplugged are running Screenfree Time Sundays every week which you can get involved with! The team needs volunteers to help lead sessions, but also helpers, photographers and a short-term campaign leader for their Eco-Easter Campaign Leader.

Wirral Unplugged’s Guest Speaker role is a great chance to give a one-off session on a theme of your choice. We have already had students lead sessions on a wide range of topics including robots and ancient Egypt! This may be an area relating to your degree, or perhaps an area of interest or hobby you are passionate about.

This is the perfect opportunity for a student who would like a one-off volunteering role, who wishes to develop their skills in leadership, education and planning.

If you are interested, you can find out more about becoming a Guest Speaker at the Guild’s website.

2. Alzheimer’s Society: GLOW Liverpool – Event Volunteer

The Alzheimer’s Society run regular Memory Walks and their brightest of the year is the GLOW Memory Walk which takes place after dark. Glow sticks, gloves, and giving back, this is a big event in the fundraising calendar and the Alzheimer’s Society need Route Marshals and Event Stewards to help on the night.

The proceeds from this event can really make a real difference to the way in which the charity helps those with dementia, their carers, and their families, as well as funding research with their partnered organisations into understanding the underlying causes of the condition, improving diagnosis and care, identifying ways to prevent dementia and searching for a cure.

This is the perfect role for anyone who likes supporting big events, and who doesn’t mind volunteering in the evening. It is a one-off role that can fit around your schedule and is a lot of fun to be part of!

You can find out more about becoming a GLOW Liverpool Event Volunteer at the Guild’s website.

3. Liverpool Guild of Students: Key Charity Fundraiser
