Public Health England (PHE) is now asking anyone who has travelled to the UK from any Italian town under containment measures within the last 14 days to immediately self-isolate, even if they have no symptoms, and to call NHS 111 to inform them of recent travel.
The towns are:
In the region of Lombardy: Codogno; Castiglione d’Adda; Casalpusterlengo; Fombio; Maleo; Somaglia; Bertonico; Terranova dei Passerini; Castelgerundo; and San Fiorano.
In the region of Veneto: Vo’Euganeo.
Anyone who has travelled from other areas of northern Italy (defined by PHE as a line above, and not including, Pisa, Florence and Rimini), to the UK in the last 14 days and is experiencing a cough, fever or shortness of breath should:
*stay indoors and avoid contact with other people
*call NHS 111 to inform them of your recent travel to the country and to ask for advice.
Any students this applies to should also contact the University’s Advice and Guidance team on advice@liverpool.ac.uk. They will then work with you to discuss: how you will be provided with alternative means of keeping up with your studies; reassurance that authorised non-attendance will not result in visa implications; and any other measures which need to be put in place to ensure that you do not need to leave your room.
For students living in university-owned accommodation this applies to, you must also ring reception and ask to speak to a hall warden. They will discuss how to support you, including access to food.
If you are a member of staff and this applies to you, please contact Human Resources on hrfeed@liverpool.ac.uk immediately who will work to support you in following this advice. You are asked to follow this advice even if your symptoms are minor.
*Please also note that Public Health England has added to the list of specified countries and areas with implications for returning travellers or visitors arriving in the UK. The list can be found here and further details can be found in the FAQs on this webpage >>>>
