The University of Liverpool Research Staff Association (UoL RSA) is a research community-owned and led initiative that offers a programme of opportunities for research staff to network and develop their skills. The UoL RSA is aimed at building a community of practice for researchers across all Faculties.
Early career researchers (ECRs) told us they wanted more training on finance and budgeting; this is an area that ECRs are often expected to pick up “on the fly” rather than by receiving formal training. So if you are an ECR and you are confused by what F.E.C actually is and how the University recovers costs from grants, or just need some advice on how to cost and budget your own grant then our next lunch and learn seminar is for you!
On Tuesday 24 March 2020, the UoL RSA’s next lunch and learn seminar on finance will be delivered by John Ellis from the Research Support Office (RSO). The RSO provides academics and their school/institutes with support on costing and submitting grant applications. Once awarded the RSO ensures compliance with the funder’s terms and conditions, providing support and advice on eligibility and completing and submitting financial claims to funders on behalf of the University.
You can register for the event here, and the seminar will take place in Brodie Tower Room 107 (Building 233 on the campus map). Please bring your own lunch to this seminar and we’ll provide the tea/coffee and cake.
This seminar will be followed by an RSA Liaison Committee Meeting from 2 – 2.30pm. If you are interested in finding out more about the role of the RSA and volunteering your time to help you are welcome to join us for this session.
We had a very successful coffee afternoon at the beginning of the year and are pleased to announce we’ll be taking these coffee and chat sessions around the University for an RSA Roadshow. Would you like to host the RSA in your department/institute? Or do you know a good venue around the University for us to hold a gathering of researchers? Please get in touch by e-mailing researchstaffassociation@liverpool.ac.uk
Other upcoming events:
