We are pleased to announce that round three of the Hugh Greenwood Legacy for Children’s Health Research is coming soon – please note that the next Children’s Health Partnership Event scheduled to take place on 20 April 2020 has now been cancelled.
Staff from the University of Liverpool and Alder Hey Children’s NHS Foundation Trust are working together to address the needs of Alder Hey patients and their carers and families.
The Hugh Greenwood Legacy for Children’s Health Research funds have been awarded to healthcare and research professionals to carry out collaborative research projects, which are improving children’s and young people’s health outcomes at their core.
The fund, named after its patron and Honorary Graduate, Sir Hugh Greenwood OBE (Hon LLD 2012) is a philanthropic donation which supports three funding streams; pump-priming projects, non-clinical PhD Studentships, Clinical and Non-clinical Fellowships.
The scheme was launched in 2018 and funded 9 projects, with a second round of funding awarded in 2019. Round two supported 10 projects which includes:
- An image database for MRI scans generated at Alder Hey to support clinical decision making for paediatric brain tumours (Andy Jones and Shivaram Avula)
- Determining the impact of underage alcohol/ substance use (UASU) on child health and well-being (Abi Rose and Shrouk Messahel)
- Starting well; feasibility study of identifying and providing support to parents of children born at high risk of cerebral palsy and complex needs in Liverpool (Melissa Gladstone and Maw Tan.)
