We may be confined to our homes, but luckily Culture Liverpool have pulled together a list of the finest local and global culture that is still at our fingertips. If you’re missing everything that the city usually has to offer don’t worry, it’s still possible to experience Liverpool’s (and the world’s) best culture from your couch.
Here are some of their top tips:
1. LIMF Living Room Sessions and Academy Lockdown Collabo Series
Liverpool International Music Festival have created the LIMF Academy Living Room Sessions where their Academy alumni will perform songs live, bringing music directly to your home.
The LIMF Academy are also creating a Lockdown Collabo Series that will see collaborations between two artists who have been challenged to make, mix and release a track over a 48-hour period. The collaborations will be added to the Culture Liverpool website once they are recorded.
2. Friday Night Live, livestreams and virtual concerts
Even though venues are closed across the city, there are still plenty of things you can watch from the safety of your home.
If you’re missing live music then make sure to tune in to the Friday Night Live series of bedroom gigs from some of Liverpool’s best artists, all curated by the Bido Lito! Team. They are free to watch online, and if you can’t watch live, all of the gigs will be added to the Culture Liverpool website afterwards.
The Culture Liverpool team have also curated a selection of the best live-streamed events and virtual concerts that are taking place right now, including the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, Guest House by Sound City, and Melodic Distraction from the Baltic Triangle-based internet radio station. You can also access our very own University of Liverpool series of lunchtime concerts as well as footage from selected performances.
3. Take a virtual tour of museums and galleries
Access to the finest art and culture is still available even though we’re confined to our homes.
The Walker Art Gallery is home to a stunning collection of decorative art and sculptural pieces, and holds one of the best collections of historic art outside of London. You can take a virtual tour from your home of the Walker Art Gallery on the Google Arts and Culture website.
If you’d like to stretch your virtual legs then take a tour of The World Cultures gallery from the National World Museum Liverpool, and view their huge collections from Africa, The Americas, Asia, and Oceania. The International Slavery Museum also offers an online tour of their main galleries and exhibition space and find out about some of the highlights.
FACT has given people a chance to explore its acclaimed Broken Symmetries exhibition virtually, whilst further afield other museums offering virtual tours include The Natural History Museum, London, Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam), Musee d’Orsay (Paris, France).
4. Listen to the Liverpool playlist and see the sights
VisitLiverpool have made the ultimate Liverpool playlist, where you’ll find songs about being alone, songs that will have you singing along, and songs about what makes this city such a special place.
This is playlist for every age, genre, and decade. From artists that revolutionised popular culture to one-hit wonders we never heard of again, it’s the perfect way to fall in love with Liverpool music all over again.

5. The Arts & Culture round-up
If you like keeping up to date with all the latest arts and culture news, Liverpool based Getintothis are streaming a new music and culture debate show three times a week via their Facebook page. Every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 8pm they’ll be joined by musicians, writers and broadcasters – plus readers and music lovers.
