Making an Impact 2020 starts next week running from the 1st -19th June and is a fantastic opportunity for research staff, academics and research related professional services staff across the University to engage with a wide variety of development sessions to increase their skills to create impact.
Designed around the Making an Impact 2020 Framework, participants can create their own individual bespoke development experiences across interactive workshop webinars, seminars, keynotes and 1:1 surgeries.

Tuesday 2nd June 11:00-12:30 Demonstrating Impact using the UN Sustainable Development
Goals
This workshop will provide you with a bespoke University SDG mapping toolkit and introduce a public policy perspective using an SDG toolkit for integrated and sustainable urban development ‘The Reference Framework for Sustainable Cities’. You will also have the opportunity to influence what a fully SDG engaged University of Liverpool would look like and the steps we need to take to get there.

A keynote on Research Culture led by Dr Beth Thompson. As lead of Wellcome’s research culture programme Beth will talk about what research culture means to her, what Wellcome is doing to make it better and what else needs to change to make the UK one of the best places in the world to be a researcher.

Advice for researchers at Liverpool who wish to go on to pursue a career in the pharmaceutical industry by Dr Eliot Forster following his PhD at Liverpool, Eliot pursued a career that has encompassed positions with Pfizer, roles advising the public sector, through to his current role as CEO of F-Star Therapeutics. He will talk about the impact his work has had on society, public policy, quality of life and the economy.

Building your own publication and communication strategy can enhance the impact of your research and raise your profile. This session will encourage participants to develop a strategy that works for them and will cover the publishing process, copyright and self archiving, metrics, online tools and profiles.

Wednesday 10th June 14:00-16:00 Entrepreneurial thinking for researchers: startups, innovation & impact
This workshop will provide researchers with an overview of entrepreneurship and will introduce them to the fundamentals of starting a business. We will include case studies of entrepreneurs who have successfully started up companies and various aspects of the startup process.
