Advice: Moving into University accommodation safely

If you are due to move into our University accommodation over the next few weeks, we hope you are getting excited and prepared to start this new journey. However, you might also be feeling anxious, or concerned about what you need to do to ensure your move is as easy, and safe as possible.

Safety in halls

We have been working hard over the summer to make sure measures are in place to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our student residents and halls staff. These new measures include:

You should have received your room number, and details about how to book your arrivals slot. If you have any queries please contact our accommodation team at: accommodation@liverpool.ac.uk , or call on 0151 795 0319.

We have also put together some handy tips about how to keep your accommodation COVID-secure, whether you are moving into halls or private accommodation, read these here on our COVID-Safety Web Hub.

The move-in process will be slightly different depending on which hall you are moving into. However, all students and their guests will be asked to follow these guidelines:

All students moving into halls will also be asked to complete an online induction. You will receive a separate email with a link inviting you to complete our “Introduction to Liverpool” induction – before you join us, make time to complete this.

Take a look at our Halls Life pages for further advice about accommodation, including moving in tips, what to pack and how to find your flatmates.

International students who will be required to quarantine once arriving at their accommodation should have already been emailed with further details. If you will be quarantining in halls please see this additional guidance.

Moving into private accommodation

If you are moving in to private accommodation, make sure you communicate about moving in with your new landlord before arriving to collect the keys.

Accommodation operators have made some significant changes to their normal processes to ensure social distancing measures can be adhered to including cleaning the property thoroughly and assigning appropriate timeslots for moving in. You need to avoid moving in at the same time as your new housemates and should aim to bring just one person to help you move if needs be.

Further information on what to expect from your new landlord and other general housing advice can be found on the Liverpool Student Homes webpages.
