A University of Liverpool researcher features in a new national media campaign to highlight research being carried out in the UK that benefits the health of people globally.
The Decade of Health campaign is funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and profiles Dr Ross White as one of ‘10 people in the UK who are changing the face of health’ for his research on mental health.
Dr White is Head of the University’s Department of Primary Care and Mental Health and an expert on global mental health. He is currently leading a study evaluating the effectiveness of a psychosocial intervention (community-based sociotherapy) for reducing depressive symptomatology experienced by people affected by humanitarian crises, specifically Congolese refugees living in Uganda and Rwanda. Dr White is also investigating approaches for supporting the mental health and wellbeing of asylum seekers and refugees in the UK. His work helps international organisations offer the best possible psychological support to those in desperate need.
The campaign is running on TV, radio, print media and across social media for six weeks, highlighting some of the people and projects that are working here in the UK to benefit global health.
