Regular COVID-19 testing available for all on campus

Our main ‘no symptoms’ test site at the Sports Centre will re-open from today, Saturday, 2 January 2021.

Any students who are due to start face-to-face teaching on Monday, 4 January are advised to get a test here today or tomorrow (2-3 January) to protect others. This should be in addition to any test you took before returning to campus.

Tests only take a few minutes, and you should receive your results within an hour. Find out more, including what to do once you receive your result on our campus safety webpages.

If you need further advice contact our COVID Guidance and Travel Plans Helpline on 0151 795 9500. Opening hours can be found here.

Test often, stay safe

To keep our community as safe as possible we will be encouraging all students, even those without symptoms, to take regular tests every 3 to 5 days, bookable at either the Sports Centre or at Greenbank Student Village.

Over the last few months we have worked hard to ensure our campus is COVID-secure for all those living, studying and working here.  All spaces having been risk assessed, and a range of measures have been introduced to make everybody feel safe and welcomed. We are pleased to report that to-date we have no evidence of any cases of COVID-19 being transmitted through our teaching activity.

To help us safely introduce a hybrid teaching model from semester two, with a mix of in-person and online teaching for all students, as is our intention, we need to all play our part in keeping campus as safe as possible.

Testing will now be available for all who want it at our ‘no symptoms’ test centres – you can get tested as many times as you’d like, however, it is recommended that you should get tested every 3 to 5 days.

It is important to remember however, that testing is just one of a range of public health measures in place to control the spread of COVID-19. Whilst we encourage all our students to start taking tests regularly as an additional safety precaution, please do continue to keep in mind that the three key steps we can take as individuals – wearing a face covering, regularly washing our hands, and maintaining a safe distance from anyone from another household – make an enormous difference, even if you receive a negative test result.
