Services and facilities update: On campus and online availability

Harold Cohen Library

In line with the current national lockdown restrictions, we have had to make some changes to our on-campus services and facilities. Many of our services are available online for those currently studying remotely. Please remember, as guidelines change we will continue to assess our services and may make further updates. Full details will be available on each service webpage.

You should also continue to check our COVID Safety web hub for the latest advice and calendar of virtual events and activities if you’re looking for something fun and COVID-safe to do.

Please remember that, in line with government guidance, only students with face-to-face teaching, or those students who need to access study resources provided on campus, should return.

All other students should remain where they are at present wherever possible, and begin the term online.

Libraries

If you can’t visit the Library in person or if you need to use resources that we don’t have a physical copy of, there are plenty of ways to access resources online.

KnowHow provides online academic support throughout the year to help you to succeed in your studies. Sessions include topics such as Academic Writing, Presentations, Preparing for Exams and more.

Your Liaison Librarian can also offer specialist support and advice for your subject. Book an online appointment with a Liaison Librarian through our appointments booking calendar.

The Sydney Jones Library and Harold Cohen Libraries will remain open under close review with limited availability for students who require access to Library or IT services. We have, however, had to make some changes in line with the latest government guidance:

Please remember that you can contact the library team 24/7 by emailing library@liverpool.ac.uk or contact us on Library chat.

Library staff have also created a guide to using the Library for students who are self-isolating.

For more information on Library services please visit our webpages.

Sport Liverpool

In line with national restrictions our University sports facilities are now closed and all face to face student club and campus sports programmes have stopped until further notice.

All memberships will be automatically frozen, and no further action is required.

In the meantime, please continue to access our online resources including our virtual, on-demand service, Wellbeats. Ideal if you need a little inspiration and support for your home workout.

Liverpool Guild of Students

From Monday 11 January, the Guild reception and study spaces (open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm) will remain open during lockdown, however some services have had to be changed as follows:

Further details are available on the Guild’s Visit us Safely pages.

Student Support

Student Services, including Counselling, Mental Health Advisory Service and Wellbeing Advisors, are operating remotely during lockdown. However, in urgent situations we can arrange to meet with you face-to-face if required. For more information please go to Student Services website.

Safety

Please remember that, although a number of essential services are available on campus, you should minimise contact with people outside of your household or support bubble and therefore only use physical facilities when it is absolutely necessary.

If you do visit campus, you must take personal responsibility for adhering to all public health measures including wearing a face covering (unless exempt), maintaining a distance from other people and washing your hands regularly.
