University Psychologist to speak at ‘Journey to Self’ summit

Dr Warren Donnellan from the Department of Psychology at the University of Liverpool will join six other experts from around the world at a free virtual event entitled ‘Journey to Self: How to Unlock your Personal Power and move Positively Through Change’.

This free, one-day summit on Monday 12th April will explore the difficult relationship we have with change and, more importantly, what we can do to embrace change with a positive and empowering mindset. The event host, Trea Nakhila, is a Psychotherapist and Educator and has spent over two decades supporting adults and adolescents with these very issues. She said: “The key to being able to embrace change with a positive mindset rests in our ability to create an authentic connection with ourselves”.

Each of the expert speakers will share valuable information to help attendees step into their personal power, unlock its vast potential and embrace the change process with a positive mindset. The event includes:

Dr Donnellan, who has been working at the University since 2012, said: “The events of the last year have really tested our capacity for resilience. My research indicates that this is not a mysterious ‘hidden strength’ but a very real set of resources that each of us develop over time and use to adapt to and manage stress”.

Drawing on nearly ten years of research experience, Dr Donnellan will discuss what we mean by resilience and how we know we are resilient in different contexts and share insights into how we might promote resilience in ourselves and others.
