Join Professor Tom Solomon with panellists – former Labour MP, Dame Louise Ellman, and University of Liverpool’s Professor William Hope for the Scouse Science Podcast on Wednesday, 1 September 2021 at 1pm, Live via Zoom and the University of Liverpool Facebook page.

Professor Tom Solomon, Director of the UK’s Emerging Infections Research unit at the University of Liverpool, and Holly Ellis, the University’s own Scouse Scientist and NHS Clinical Scientist in Genomics will discuss the scientific progress being made to tackle the virus and the wider impact of the pandemic. This is an interactive event and guests will be able to ask questions of the panel via Facebook and Zoom chat.

Dame Louise Ellman (DBE) served as MP for Liverpool Riverside from 1997 to 2019. She was elected as a councillor on the Lancashire County Council in 1970 and was leader of Lancashire County Council from 1981 – 1997. She became the Labour group leader in 1977 and was awarded a Damehood in 2018. She is President of the Jewish Labour Movement and is Vice President of the Jewish Leadership Council.

Professor William Hope is Dame Sally Davies Chair of AMR Research at the University of Liverpool in the UK. Professor Hope is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia. Professor Hope leads the Centre of Excellence in Infectious Diseases Research (CEIDR) which focuses on infection therapeutics.
