Guild President, Bertie Woodcock, has been appointed to lead a University project to create a new student portal.
Information and support are currently accessed via several different systems and platforms – including Liverpool Life, the student intranet site, My Liverpool, Canvas, MS Teams, Zoom, and the Timetable App. The Student Portal Project aims to simplify this by providing a single mobile-friendly system which is easier to navigate and gives impactful, relevant and timely messaging.
This is the first time a strategic change project has been led by a student representative.
Bertie commented: “I’m really proud that the University felt that the Guild could play a leading role in supporting this project. We want to make sure that the new portal reflects what students have been asking for and gives them the best university experience possible.
“The Guild has great expertise in listening to the student voice so we will be using those to make sure the Portal Project is something that students want to use and helps to improve their university experience.”
The Student Portal Project is part of the wider Student Data Systems Programme (SDSP) which has been set up to improve how student data is collected, stored and used by the University. As a member of the Programme Development Group, Bertie will also be able to bring a student perspective to the SDSP’s other initiatives, the CRM, Student Attendance and Learning Analytics Projects.
Bertie continues: “I’m really looking forward to working on the different parts of the Programme and ensuring that they all have a strong student focus.”
