Improving student mental health through partnership

Student

A new training module launches this week that aims to break the stigma surrounding suicide by teaching students how to identify, understand, and help someone who may be experiencing suicidal thoughts.

The training has been developed specifically for university students, and includes information and scenarios that are related to experiences at university. It aims to equip you with the skills and confidence you need to have a potentially life-saving conversation.

The University’s Improving Student Mental Health though Partnership team have been working with the Zero Suicide Alliance to develop the programme, and Liverpool students provided feedback on the scenario scripts and feature in both voice recordings and photos used in the module.

Suicide Prevention Workshop

The Improving Student Mental Health through Partnerships Project Team is hosting a workshop on Suicide Prevention on Wednesday 23 March from 6pm-7:30pm.

The session will raise awareness of suicide, and provide information on how to respond to someone you are concerned about, and assist someone in a crisis.

This will be a very sensitive topic for many students, and we would encourage anyone who thinks this is something they can learn from, to come along.

Free Suicide Awareness Training Module

The Zero Suicide Alliance are a charity dedicated to preventing suicide, and this new edition of their suicide awareness training has been created specifically for university students, their family and friends.

Through the training you’ll learn the skills to better understand suicidal behaviours so you can feel confident to see the signs, say the words, and signpost to support.

The training aims to equip you with the skills and confidence you need to have a potentially life-saving conversation. It takes approximately 20 minutes to complete and you will get a certificate on completion.
