Two undergraduate students in receipt of the first scholarships at the University of Liverpool supported by striker Divock Origi have begun their studies.
The first Divock Origi scholars, Bushra Ihmaidat and Grace Murphy, both from Liverpool, recently started their degrees in Law at the University. The scholarship aims to empower students as apart of Origi’s dedication to supporting the next generation.
Bushra said: “My studies so far in Law have been going exceptionally well. I have enjoyed my degree so far despite it being a big change from school. This scholarship has helped me massively, to have access to the same opportunities as other students and to be able to excel in my studies so far, so I am very grateful for Divock and this opportunity that he has provided me and hope to see more of its positive impact in the future. “
Grace said: ”Starting university has been very exciting and I’m so grateful for the opportunity of the scholarship, it has been a huge help. My studies are going well so far and I’m looking forward to learning more over the course of my degree.”
Empowering young people
Divock Origi, established the scholarships to empower young people through education: “I wanted to set up this undergraduate scholarship with the University of Liverpool to give young people the opportunity to develop their own passion, the way I have. The goal is to empower young people to achieve great things.”
Divock recently posted a special message of support for University of Liverpool graduates of 2020 and 2021 which can be found here.
The scholarship was open to two students in the 2021/22 academic year and will cover the full year’s tuition fees as well as funds towards supported living costs for both students each year of their degree. A third student will be funded in the 2022/23 academic year, followed by a fourth and final student in 2023/24.
Further information on the scholarships and how to apply is available from the University’s scholarship information pages: https://www.liverpool.ac.uk/study/undergraduate/finance/scholarships/divock-origi-scholarship/
