Social Value Project provides new look for the Greenbank College Canteen

Members of Facilities, Residential and Commercial Services (FRCS) at the University of Liverpool partnered with Novus Property Solutions, Dulux and Integral to give something back to their local community as part of a social value initiative with The Greenbank  Project to repaint the Greenbank College canteen.

Greenbank College offers supportive, inclusive learning opportunities for young people from its accessible building in south Liverpool.

The College offers courses for approximately two hundred students per year. Classes are small, friendly and encouraging and this helps our students to achieve their potential.

Greenbank College students were involved in picking out a colour scheme with Dulux kindly donating the paint. Novus supplied some professional decorators to mentor students and to show them how to prepare and paint the canteen area. Integral supplied splash plates for the bottom of the doors and also donated a brand-new lectern. Benson Signs offeried to create a plaque with Greenbank’s logo to it and for it to be affixed to the lectern. This new lectern will be used to celebrate the achievements of the students at Greenbank’s annual awards ceremony.

Greenbank College, Student Liaison & Marketing Officer  Amanda Tozer Said: “It was amazing to see how our students got involved in the painting and how they acquired new skills and confidence. In addition, some of the Novus team took the time to learn some basic sign language from our Communication Support Workers so that they could communicate better with our deaf students. This project underscores how we can all benefit from working together and getting involved in corporate and social responsibility.” Shaunah Wilson, Greenbank College Student won the 2022 Student Award in recognition of her progress and commitment to the Social Value Project.

FRCS Core Campus Core Campus Maintenance Manager, Michael McDermott said “Under this project I have personally learnt that giving your time is just as valuable in so many ways as financial support. Working on such a project has enabled myself and the contractors forming the social value team to take time out away from our busy schedules and to truly work together to deliver something that can have a real impact.”

The University would like to thank Novus Property Solutions, Dulux Paints, Integral and Benson Signs for their hard work in helping to deliver this social value project at Greenbank College.
