The Pandemic Institute, which is headquartered at the University of Liverpool, has announced the launch of its Student Excellence Awards to support the career development of PhD students.
The world leading end-to-end Pandemic Institute is inviting postgraduate research students at the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores University and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine to apply for five awards of £5,000 to help students to broaden their vision through attendance at an international conference or to undertake training and development opportunities.
The awards have been made possible by a generous donation from DAM health, a leading provider in the UK for COVID-19 testing solutions.
The £5,000 awards will be made on a competitive basis to assist with travel, subsistence and fees for conferences or other training and development opportunities.
How to apply
The award is available for PhD students working in areas of research that align to The Pandemic Institute’s core themes, from identification of pathogens, hosts and locations of potential future epidemics and pandemics, through to repairing the negative social, environmental and economic impacts of pandemics. Students can be home or international, full or part-time and in any year of study, but must be at the University of Liverpool, Liverpool John Moores or Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
Students can complete a dedicated ‘expression of interest’ form online before 5pm on Monday, 15 August. Those who have expressed an interest will receive an invitation to an informative event where the Student Excellence Awards will be launched on Wednesday, 7 September. The formal application portal will open in the first week of September.
