The fully licensed Fröhlich Café Bar is now open for light refreshments on the ground floor of the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre between 8.30am and 5.30pm Monday to Thursday and 8.30am to 3pm on Friday. Audiences for weekend, lunchtime and evening concerts in the adjacent Tung Auditorium can also enjoy pre-concert and interval drinks.
The café’s delicious menu includes sandwiches, toasted paninis, soups, salads and cakes all freshly made on campus. A range of bottled beers, wines, tea, coffee and soft drinks are also available.
Campus Operations Manager Gail Cowin who leads the Commercial Catering team comments:
“It’s been a great opportunity to develop the Fröhlich in a brand-new, ultra modern hospitality space within the Yoko Ono Lennon Centre.
“We’re also very proud of the fact that all of the food served in the café is made freshly on campus with ingredients sourced locally and wherever possible from sustainable suppliers – including for example, Liverpool’s ethical Brew Tea Company and responsibly sourced coffee from Sheffield-based, Caféology.”
A donation was made by the Estate of the Late Mrs A F Fröhlich to support the new Yoko Ono Lennon Centre and Tung Auditorium at the University of Liverpool. As the Centre is built not only as a place for Music (and musical) students at the University of Liverpool, but for all of the people of the Liverpool City Region and beyond to enjoy music and the arts, and because Fanchon Fröhlich was a key figure in the Liverpool arts scene, it was felt most appropriate to name this space in her honour.
