A University of Liverpool football finance podcast has been shortlisted for a prestigious international award, alongside podcasts from The Guardian and The New York Times.

The Price of Football, hosted by Kieran Maguire from the University of Liverpool Management School and comedian Kevin Day, has been shortlisted for the Football Supporters Association ‘Best Podcast of the Year’ award.

The ULMS led podcast, which discusses the beautiful game through a financial lens, is one of six podcasts to be shortlisted for the largest supporter-led award in the UK.

Launched in 2019, The Price of Football has had more than six million downloads and has hosted a diverse range of guests such as referees, MPs, police and supporters to talk about all things football finance.

Kieran and Kevin have recorded more than 300 episodes of the podcast which allows for in depth debates on the finances of Premier League giants and clubs all the way down the football pyramid.

Members of the public can vote for their favourite football podcast until midnight on Monday 31 October. The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in London on Monday 14 November, with awards presented by Victoria Derbyshire.

Kieran said: “It’s an absolute honour to have been shortlisted for Best Podcast in the Football Supporters Association Awards, alongside respected podcasts such as The Guardian Football Weekly.

“I’d like to thank everyone who has supported us so far by putting us forward for the award, downloaded the podcast and listened to us talk about football every week.

“Our fate is now in the hands of a public vote so if you’re fan of ours then do get voting!”
