Get a head start this term

Student Services

Today marks the start of semester two teaching for most academic programmes, and we’d also like to welcome for the first time some of our master’s students who start their programme with us this week.

Below you’ll find an overview of things to remember before you head onto campus, and some tips to make this week go a little easier.

Events

Whether you are new to the University, missed out at the start of the first semester or want to try your hand at something new, there are some great events running this week:

You can download our free My Liverpool app on the App Store and Google Play, to view all events and create your own personalised timetable.

For new students, there are also welcome activities running in your academic department.

View your academic timetable

Your academic timetable for 2022/23 is available for all students to view on the Timetables App and in the Timetable Portal .

If you are a new student, you will need to have completed your academic registration and activated your computing account before you are able to access the Timetable Portal and Timetable App.

IT issues or concerns

If you haven’t yet activated your university computing account you can find all the information for how to do this here. If you have any IT issues, such as accessing your university account or email, please contact our IT Services department via Service Desk.

Get to know your campus

Take the time over the next couple of weeks to familiarise or re-familiarise yourself with the student services and facilities available. These include our Sports & Fitness CentreLibrariesGuild of StudentsCareers Studio and Student Support Services.

Health matters

Make sure you register with a GP. Brownlow Health have a GP practice on campus as well as others across the city, and if you register in advance you will be able to see a doctor quickly and easily if you need to.

The NHS also recommends that all students have the MenACWY vaccination to guard against meningitis and septicaemia Students of any nationality entering a UK university for the first time who have not had MenACWY vaccine are also eligible up to their 25th birthday. If you are not sure if your vaccinations are up to date check with your GP as soon as possible. For more information visit the NHS website.

Get involved in your community

Whether this is your first or last year, a great way to connect with your student neighbourhood is to seek out volunteering opportunities. It will give you the chance to integrate into your new community, meet new people and gain some valuable work experience which, in some cases, can be added to your Higher Education Achievement Report (HEAR) once you graduate. You can find opportunities via Careers and Employability, through Liverpool Guild of Students, or simply by connecting with the relevant organisations in your area.

Access support if you need it

We’re here to support you and have a wide range of services on offer, whatever the issue or question.
