Volunteering is a great way to enhance your CV, make friends, and boost your personal skills, whilst also giving something back to the wider community.
The Guild of Students offer a host of ways to volunteer. There are opportunities on campus and with local and national organisations outside the University.
Here are just a few of the many opportunities currently on offer:
Fundraising Events Volunteer – Wirral Egg Run
Volunteers are needed to help with the Wirral Egg Run for a 3-4 hour slot on Sunday 26th March. Help to engage with the public at the information stall, running some games and raffles, helping to set up equipment, and cash handling via bucket collections. They are looking for students with:
- Good people skills
- A strong team player
- Reliable and trustworthy
- Interest in fundraising
- Energy and enthusiasm no matter the weather!
You will be supported by experienced staff on the day. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Oxfam Shop Volunteers
Oxfam are looking for Volunteers to help in a number of local shops and help to support the world’s most vulnerable communities. There are opportunities to get involved at the shops in Liverpool city centre, Garston, Crosby, Allerton, Smithdown Road, and Wirral.
They need volunteers who can give 4-8 hours (or more!) of their time in the shop each week, and we’re excited to welcome brand new volunteers to our stores!

Guild Schools Volunteer
Liverpool Guild of Students is inviting you to join us as a science or green volunteer for Guild Schools.
This project gives University of Liverpool Students to deliver workshops in Primary or Secondary schools across Merseyside. It’s a great opportunity for students and pupils to develop their skills and experience something new, plus it’s completely free both the student volunteers and the schools themselves.
You will be trained to deliver a one-hour session with another volunteer. It could be teaching pupils how to recycle, how to live sustainably or showing them how to carry out an exciting science experiment!
ReachOut Primary and Secondary School Mentor
ReachOut is a mentoring charity working with children in disadvantaged communities to raise aspirations and help them grow in character and improve academic skills. ReachOut need students to volunteering in primary and secondary schools.
As a Mentor you’ll work with the same young person each week. Sessions of between 10-16 young people and 10-16 mentors take place weekly and are led by a Project Leader. You will be matched one-to-one with a mentee who you will support for the academic year.
