The University is holding a number of events to mark International Women’s Day and Women’s History Month.
International Women’s Day (8 March) is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality. The theme for this year is #EmbraceEquity.

What’s on
8 March
- A walking tour of the Knowledge Quarter, followed by a talk and networking event at the Novotel hotel.
- A lunchtime concert by Liverpool musician, Lazygirl.
- A panel discussion on women’s careers in the music industry.
- A panel discussion featuring four women judges to celebrate both International Women’s day and International Day of Women Judges. This event will be introduced by Wendy Beetlestone – former graduate of the University of Liverpool, recently appointed as Chancellor of the University of Liverpool and US district judge.
9 March
- Liverpool Women in Science and Engineering (LivWiSE) networking and social event
- The Centre for the Study of International Slavery (CSIS) is hosting a panel discussion featuring the talented women of Liverpool’s International Slavery Museum who will be discussing their research, ongoing initiatives, as well as issues of representation and marginalisation.
15 March
- A film night screening of Hidden Figures
- An inaugural lecture by Professor Luca Csepely-Knorr, `Shaping Tomorrow’s Landscape’.
24 March
- The Centre for the Study of International Slavery (CSIS) is hosting a panel for the ‘Unfolding Our Shared Future’ series focussing on how history is interpreted and represented in the US and the UK.
