The Tung Auditorium, Liverpool’s state-of-the-art, world-class concert hall has today launched its new eclectic Autumn 2023 programme.
Starting on Friday 15 September, with Down for the Count All-Stars celebrating A Century of Swing, The Tung’s latest programme of events features something for everyone with performances from internationally-renowned artists, University of Liverpool students and local favourites.
Wirral singer-songwriter Bill Ryder Jones, will return to The Tung on Saturday 16 September as a special guest of the ever-innovative Manchester Collective, who will be performing works including Steve Reich’s Different Trains: a moving exploration of history and collective memory.

For the first time The Tung is partnering with BlackFest, a multi-arts festival celebrating Black creatives, to present award winning saxophonist, composer and broadcaster YolanDa Brown OBE. YolanDa, well known for her long-running series on CBeebies, YolanDa’s Band Jam, will bring her delicious fusion of reggae, jazz and soul to The Tung on Wednesday 27 September.
The Tung Auditorium’s well-loved free lunchtime concert series will also kick off at 1pm on 27 September with a further BlackFest collaboration, featuring Satin Beige, an R&B cellist who has previously opened the main stage at Africa Oyé.
Collaborations continue aplenty with internationally acclaimed folk singer and actor Lisa Lambe bringing her new project Nightvisiting to The Tung as part of the Liverpool Irish Festival on Friday 20th October. Two concerts will be presented in association with Parrjazz, including Snarky Puppy band members Bill Laurance and Michael League, and The Tung will host three events for Milap’s Indika Festival in November.
The University’s longstanding partnership with Liverpool Philharmonic continues with their contemporary music group Ensemble 10:10, plus the first concert of the Liverpool Philharmonic’s Chamber Series in the auditorium; the Elias Quartet with Jonathan Biss.
The bumper programme wouldn’t be complete without the Liverpool University Music Society Winter Concert on Friday 15 December, followed by a dream-like winter fantasia from the much-loved Unthank sisters, to usher in the Christmas season.
The Tung Auditorium Artistic Director, Richard Hartwell said: “We’re delighted to be launching our latest programme of events such strong collaborations with old and new partners across the city, alongside internationally-renowned performers.
“Whilst we’re only in our second full year of opening, we’re really proud that we’ve managed to present a variety of genres and artists telling stories from around the world and also offer our free lunchtime concert series, which is open to all.
