Postgraduate researchers (PGR) at the University of Liverpool will have full access to an exciting new, free programme of personal and professional development opportunities from September 2023 onwards.

Calling all PGRs

The Researcher Development Team in the Academy have designed a rich and diverse programme of over 100 sessions during 2023-24 for you to create your own bespoke development pathway. The new programme includes in-person workshops, masterclasses, boot-camps, webinars, practice-based sessions, family forums, online modules, and self-paced resources tailored to PGRs at every stage of your research journey.

Your invitation

The Academy’s Researcher Development (RD) Team invites you to celebrate the launch of this new programme at the Taking Charge of your Development event.

Date: Wednesday 13 September
Time:  Due to popular demand, the same session will be run twice on the same day, same venue:

This in-person event will showcase the full range of PGR development activities and resources offered by the Academy’s RD Team and the University’s PGR Development Network. Activities at this event will help you start your own development planning and think about how to take positive action towards achieving your goals. You will also have the chance to connect with the PGR and research-related staff community over a networking brunch (catering provided).

Hear about the Academy’s distinctive approach to PGR development from Dr James Howard, Director of the Academy. Hear from Professor Georgina Endfield, Professor of Environmental History and Associate Pro-Vice Chancellor for Research Environment and Postgraduate Research, about the University’s plans for enabling PGR success. Meet the Leadership Group responsible for the peer-led PGR Development Network.

Launch of the University’s first PGR-Postdoc Buddy Scheme

The Scheme is co-led by the University’s two researcher networks’: the PGR Development Network (PGRDevNet) and the Research Staff Association (RSA), and will offer you the opportunity to meet new PGR and postdoc colleagues, expand your network, and enrich your experience of the University’s research culture.
