The University of Liverpool is shortlisted for the University of the Year award in the Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024, published today (Friday 15 September).

Liverpool is the only University in the North West on the 2024 shortlist, and has also moved up four places in the rankings, to joint 29th of 134 institutions nationally.

Professor Tim Jones, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool said: “I am delighted that the University of Liverpool has been shortlisted for the University of the Year 2024 award, and to see our position in the Good University Guide improve. Colleagues work hard to deliver exceptional teaching and support to our students, and to produce world-leading research. These results, together with other recent league table improvements, are a testament to that work.”

The Times and The Sunday Times have produced university guides since 1993 and 1998 respectively. The Good University Guide is based on an analysis of student satisfaction with teaching quality and their student experience, entry standards, research quality, and graduate prospects.

Since 2018 the guide also includes social inclusion rankings for universities in England and Wales, with a separate table for Scottish rankings. The tables are based on key measures to reflect the diversity of their intake and subsequent success when attending university.
