September
Careers and Student Support reveal new home!
The University’s Careers and Student Support are a well-used and much-loved service amongst our University students. Over the summer the team has been busy moving to a new office, with a much more user-friendly set up, so they can give our students the welcome, support and guidance they need at all stages of their time with us. Drop-in to see the team from Monday 25 September, on the ground floor of the Foundation Building, and find out more about the service and our Career Coaches. The new entrance is on Mount Pleasant, opposite Starbucks.
October
Employability Day
Hot on the heels of the opening of the new Career and Student Support studio, we’ll be hosting Employability Day on Thursday 5 October. You can expect inspiring talks, take part in our employer speed interviews, and find out how to make the most of Linkedin – plus get a free professional headshot to add to your profile. Liverpool Literary Festival
Taking place over one weekend in October (Friday 6 – Sunday 8 October), this is an annual University festival that has something for everyone. This year’s brilliant line-up include authors, TV personalities and poets, and the best bit is that our students get access to a limited number of free tickets, available to all events. The festival takes place right on your doorstep too, at the Victoria Gallery and Museum. Inspired Futures Careers Fair
Careers Fairs are a great way to connect with potential employers and find out about their job opportunities for students and graduates. We have two days of events taking place from Tuesday 17 to Wednesday 18 October. Day one will feature a series of panel talks for insights into a range of career paths, and day two seeing our biggest ever Careers Fair with 90 employers visiting Liverpool to talk to students about their internship, placement, and graduate job opportunities.
Comic Con Liverpool
Liverpool does Comic Con at its Exhibition Centre on Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 October. Its April show was a sell-out and October’s promises to be another belter. Guests already signed up include Helena Bonham Carter, Shameik Moore and Gwendoline Christie. There is a range of standard ticket rates available, so dust off your fancy dress and make sure you get one of the hottest tickets in town.
Farmaggedon
It’s the Ultimate October Fear-Fest down at Farmaggedon, where award-winning scare houses and spine-tingling entertainment will give you a frighteningly good time. Book early to avoid disappointment, there are dates available throughout October.
River of Light
From Friday 27 October until Sunday 5 November, Liverpool’s waterfront is the place to be once the sun has set. Why? Because a free outdoor illuminated gallery, featuring light and sound from local, national and international artists, will transform a brisk autumnal evening into something magical. River of Light is an annual favourite in Liverpool’s cultural calendar and this year will be extra special, as the theme will be ‘United by Light’ in tribute to the city’s time hosting the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest. November
Liverpool Christmas Markets
From around 18 November* right up until 24 December, Liverpool will host its Christmas Markets on the cobbles in front of Grade II listed St George’s Hall. Expect unique homecraft stalls, international food and warm mulled wine, all against the backdrop of one of the most beautiful buildings in the city.
*date is approximate, and subject to change. Keep an eye on the Visit Liverpool website for confirmation nearer the time.
December / January
The University will break for Christmas on Friday 18 December and return on Monday 8 January 2024. At this point, a three-week period of teaching and assessments will commence for students, finishing on Friday 26 January. A definite date for the calendar so you’re fully prepared for the end of Semester One and the start of Semester Two.
