Wondering who can help you with specific issues as you settle into university? These useful contacts can help you with all aspects of uni life, from questions about your course through to wellbeing support.
Questions about your course
- For any administrative queries specific to your course, the best place to start is with your school’s Student Experience Office. You can find a full list of these contacts on the School Office Contacts page.
- Academic Adviser. All students are assigned an Academic Advisor who can provide you with information and advice about academic matters. You can find your Advisor’s details in Liverpool Life. You should meet with your Academic Adviser each semester, plus at any drop-in sessions they run if you need extra support.
- Learning Teaching Support Officer. Every Faculty has Learning Teaching Support Officers who can help you with advice, guidance, wellbeing concerns. The Officers can also advise you on processes to do with your studies, such as extenuating circumstances, but also signpost you to specialist support services.
- For queries around examinations, graduation and the university’s policies and procedures, the Student Administration webpages contain all the information you’ll need.
Accommodation and life in halls
Living in university accommodation is a big part of your experience as a student. Your welfare within halls are the responsibility of our Hall Wardens, assisted by Residential Advisers. Residential Advisers (RAs) live onsite and you can reach out to them for support and advice if you are having any problems. Besides offering advice and guidance, they have a dedicated phone number that you can call for out of hours support. You can find your RA’s contact details and duty phone number in your Welcome Handbook, on posters in your kitchen and lift lobbies, as well as reception.
Student Services
Our Student Services are dedicated to supporting you throughout your time at Liverpool. You can find them in the Student Life centre in the Alsop Building on the main University Square. Made up of several teams, they can help no matter what comes your way.
- Mental Wellbeing – starting university is exciting but it can bring challenges. The team offer a range of options to help you navigate university life, including wellbeing advice, counselling service, a mental health advisory service plus workshops and events. - Disability Support – on these pages, you’ll find guidance on how to access disability-related study support, what study and assessment support is available, including funding options and much more.
- Money Advice & Guidance – starting at university and getting to grips with managing your finances can be a balancing act. Money Advice & Guidance offers support with a range of issues from managing the cost of living, accessing the University Hardship Fund and financial support for care leavers and international students.
- Report + Support – as part of our commitment to creating a safe, inclusive environment for you to study and live in, we encourage our students to report bullying, harassment, sexual misconduct, hate crime, assault or discrimination through Report + Support. It’s quick and easy to use, and you can tell us something has happened anonymously if you prefer.
- Visa and immigration support – dedicated advice for international students on visas, working in the UK and family visas.
Library KnowHow
KnowHow is a free service for all University of Liverpool students. Through the service, you can access a range of workshops, webinars and online tutorials on understanding your current academic skills, note taking, time management and more.
The team also offers one-to-one appointments with their Writing@Liverpool tutors for additional support with academic writing and Stats@Liverpool tutors for support with statistics.
Campus Support and Campus police officer
The Campus Support Team help keep campus a safe and secure place to live, study and work. The team can be contacted using the emergency number 0151 794 2222.
Campus Support also run a dedicated chaperone service on campus, that runs 24 hours a day. If you’re working late on campus or you feel vulnerable and would like to be escorted across campus at night, please call Campus Support at any time on 0151 794 3252.
The University also has a dedicated Police Officer – PC Andy Woolford – who works alongside our Campus Support Services team and can offer practical safety advice and support regarding any potential crime related issues. You can get in touch with Andy via email: a.woolford@liverpool.ac.uk.
