Every day we hear something new that amazes us about our wonderful students and alumni, and we wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight on some of these wonderful acts on World Kindness Day.
We know not everyone can volunteer and that there are lots of ways our students show kindness; in both big and small ways. If you have a story or work on a project that deserves a shout out too, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch via Instagram (@LivUni), TikTok or Facebook. #TeamLivUni
British Heart Foundation Pack for Good Scheme
Last year students raised £10,682 for the British Heart Foundation’s Pack for Good Scheme. They also donated 763 bags and diverted 6,104 tonnes of unwanted items from landfill. You can find out more via the Guild’s Leave Liverpool Tidy story.
Donate2Motivate
Some of our alumni medics have also set up Donate2Motivate – a charity that donates clothes, slippers, toiletries and puzzle books for people who come into hospital without their belongings.
The founders – Dr Gabrielle Titley-Wilson and Dr Chloe Ward – hope to dismantle the barriers created by hospital gowns, and inspire patients to reclaim their strength and dignity, promoting comfort, encouraging mobility, and celebrating the human spirit in healthcare.
Fundraising
In the past three years, you’ve raised £61,386.60 for charity. Last year, by completing the National Student Survey, you also raised close to £4,000 for Savera UK – a charity who tackle ‘honour’-based abuse – and Kensington Fields Pantry. So proud!
Student Flat Sustainability Champions
As Student Flat Sustainability Champions, students take a leading role in promoting sustainability and educating their peers on issues such as energy efficiency, waste and recycling.
Litter picks in Liverpool
Students are often out and about on litter picks that run throughout the year via the Guild’s Give it a Go scheme. If you’d like to get involved, you’ll also find litter picks via Wellbeing Liverpool.
Volunteering
Last year 52 of our students students logged 563 hours of volunteering between them. If you want to find a volunteering opportunity, there are lots of roles being advertised on the Guild’s volunteering pages right now.
