Applications for our Global Opportunities Year in China and Summer Abroad programmes close this month, don’t miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime!
Our summer opportunities are available to undergraduate students from all year groups, while our Year in China programme is open to students in their second year (or third year if studying a 4-year degree), and final year.
Year in China
The Year in China gives you the opportunity to spend a full academic year at our fully English-speaking joint venture, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). It’s marked on a pass/fail basis and changes your degree title to ‘(Subject) with a Year in China’. Depending on which pathway you choose, you can study either China Studies or Entrepreneurship.
Harriet Fallon who spent a Summer Abroad at the Chinese University of Hong Kong said: “The experience has not only enriched my knowledge of the academic subjects I studied, but it has encouraged me to travel more and become more independent”.
The deadline is Sunday 31 December 2023.
Summer Abroad
A Summer Abroad is our shortest programme available, with opportunities lasting between 1-8 weeks. It’s a fantastic opportunity to study something different such as a new language and culture. The summer abroad programme is non-credit bearing so it doesn’t count directly towards your degree.
The deadline is Sunday 31 December 2023.
There are also a number of third-party supported Summer Abroad options, with opportunities in Uganda, India, Fiji, Amsterdam and the USA:
- Common Purpose – Friday 15 December
- Pagoda Projects – Friday 15 December
- Summer at the University of Georgia, USA – Sunday 31 December 2023
- Play Action International – See the Play Action International website for deadlines
For all of our third-party supported opportunities, students who meet one of one of the University’s Widening Participation criteria will be prioritised for subsidised projects. Non-WP students can apply independently via the providers themselves, but would not be entitled to any additional funding. You can view your WP criteria here.
