Liverpool has placed #1 in StudentCrowd‘s ‘Best Student Cities 2023’ league table against more than 70 cities in the UK including Manchester, Newcastle upon Tyne, and Leeds.

The city ranked highly across all review categories: cost of living, eating out, night life, shopping and public transport.

The StudentCrowd Best Student Cities League Table is based entirely on verified ac.uk student reviews. They analysed a total of 9,304 location reviews by students across the UK to select the top 20 cities in the UK.

Professor Gavin Brown, Pro Vice Chancellor for Education, University of Liverpool said: ‘”The City of Liverpool is a fantastic place to be a student. Famed for its friendliness, vibrancy and a range of social and cultural highlights, students joining us from elsewhere in the UK or overseas often tell us Liverpool very quickly feels like home. At the University of Liverpool, we are proud to have been awarded Gold in the recent Teaching Excellence Framework with recognition that our teaching, approaches to supporting student success, and more, are outstanding – and the City is integral to this education offer, providing an enviable range of industry placement opportunities, fascinating cultural assets and world-class facilities.”

Louis King, Accounting and Finance Undergraduate, University of Liverpool said: “Liverpool is more than just a city, it’s an experience that goes beyond academics. Its dynamic nightlife is alive with energy, with a brilliant range of places to eat and its affordability allows students to thrive. Liverpool offers a huge range of possibilities, from its varied commercial scenes to its seamless public transport. It’s not only about education, it’s about living a life that fosters growth and excitement, which makes Liverpool the right choice for any student looking for a holistic, fulfilling experience.”

This latest success follows other awards and achievements for the University. Earlier this year, in summer 2023 the University of Liverpool scored highly in the National Student Survey (NSS) in a number of areas, including learning resources, student voice and learning opportunities. This summer also saw the institution rise 14 places in the annual QS World University rankings. Significantly the University was awarded the highest rating, Gold, in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023.
