Things you should know if you’re considering postgraduate research

Have you ever wondered if postgraduate research (PGR) could be for you?  Or, like lots of undergraduates, think you could never do that?

As part of our new campaign showcasing the amazing and diverse stories of our current postgraduate researchers, we look at some of the benefits of continuing at Liverpool as a postgrad and dispel some of the myths around undertaking research.

  1. Did you know you don’t necessarily need to have studied a master’s course to continue to postgraduate research?  We do advertise some opportunities where you can progress straight from your undergraduate degree to a research programme.  So, it’s definitely worth taking a look at our PhD and studentship opportunities.
  2. PRET.  Not just coffee and sandwiches! PRET at Liverpool is the new Postgraduate Researcher Experience Team who embed support for our postgraduate researchers across the University, creating an amazing student experience for our PGRs.
  3. We have our very own PGR Development Team who deliver bespoke events, training and other development opportunities that will enrich your skills and enhance your career prospects.
  4. As a postgraduate researcher, you can still access the award-winning support offered by our Careers and Employability team too.  From career coaching and job fairs, to developing the digital skills that today’s employers are looking for, and everything in between, the team are there to help you to achieve your career goals,
