Award winning engagement professional to host Three Minute Thesis workshop

Three Minute Thesis

Are you a PGR student interested in applying for the 3 Minute Thesis (3MT)  and potentially becoming a 3MT winner?

If so, join us on Monday 25 March for an expert look at how to prepare a winning entry with expert public engagement trainer Dr Jamie Gallagher.

Dr Gallagher is a seasoned science communicator who is adept at connecting with diverse audiences, having shared his research via stage, radio and TV. He is both a previous International 3MT Competition winner and a FameLab UK runner-up.

Open to all University of Liverpool Postgraduate Researchers, the workshop, entitled Short Talk, Lasting Impression, will explain how to develop a compelling narrative, design effective slides, and how to tailor your presentation style to meet the specific requirements of the 3MT Competition.

It is increasingly important to be able to communicate your research in an accessible and succinct style suitable for a range of audiences. The 3MT is a fantastic way to develop these presentation and public-engagement skills whilst also competing for prizes and the prestige of becoming a 3MT winner.

You can find out more about the competition rules, eligibility requirements and the entry process for the University of Liverpool 3MT Competition 2024 by visiting this page. Here you will find a link to the recent online introductory session, delivered by The Academy Researcher Development team. You can read about the experience of last year’s winner in this blogpost.

Submit your 3MT entry

The deadline to submit your 3MT entry for the Faculty Heats is 2pm on Monday 8 April 2024.

The first ten submissions will each receive a prize of Presentation Clickers.
