The University has appointed Lucy Everest to the role of Chief Operating Officer – a new post, starting on 7 October, which will provide leadership for professional services departments and faculty-based professional services teams at the University.
Lucy is currently Global Chief Operating Officer at Heriot-Watt University overseeing the global student journey as well as the University’s estates and facilities, information and IT services, marketing, recruitment and communications and international partnerships.
The new role, reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor as part of the Senior Leadership Team, is intended to enhance coordination across professional services in support of the University’s ambitious strategic framework, Liverpool 2031.
In the new role, Lucy will oversee and provide line management to the professional services leads in:
- External Relations (including Global Engagement & Partnerships)
- Facilities, Residential and Commercial Services
- Faculty-based professional services (including line management of the three Faculty Directors of Operations)
- Human Resources
- IT Services
- Libraries, Museums and Galleries
- Research, Partnerships and Innovation
- Student Experience and Enhancement
- Student Recruitment, Admissions and Widening Participation

Prior to her current role at Heriot-Watt, Lucy was Pro Vice Chancellor and Director of Global Marketing at Middlesex University before moving into the role of Executive Director of Global Marketing at Heriot-Watt (2018 – 2020). She has held senior positions across both the public and private sectors.
