Sydney Jones Library overnight closure

Major work has started on the redesign, replacement and expansion of the Sydney Jones Library (SJL) toilets.

Following student feedback, this investment will deliver renovated and expanded toilet facilities for our new and current students using the library.

As a result, the Sydney Jones Library (SJL) will be closed overnight to our students due to the extensive improvement works across the building.

The overnight closure of the building is necessary to enable the work to be undertaken safely and smoothly, and to minimise disruption to users using the library during the day.

These overnight closures will begin from September 2024 up to the May 2025 assessment period. The Harold Cohen Library will still provide 24/7 study spaces to our users.

The library team will also work with the University’s Muslim Adviser to minimise disruption to users of the SJL prayer room.

The SJL will be open from 8am until 10pm from 16 September until May 2025, with 24/7 services resuming for the summer revision period.

You can book a tour of both libraries, just speak to a member of the Customer Service team for more information.
