LCEI festive forum celebrates a successful year of decarbonisation collaborations

Businesses, academics, students and local stakeholders came together for a special festive Low Carbon Eco- Innovatory (LCEI) event to celebrate a successful year of decarbonisation collaborations.

A partnership between the University of Liverpool and Liverpool John Moores University, LCEI provides a unique opportunity for businesses in the Liverpool City Region (LCR) to access university technologies, academic expertise and financial assistance to facilitate clean and sustainable growth, enabling them to progress towards Net Zero.

The evening involved a series of presentations with speakers from both universities as well as from two local businesses – Oakhurst and Asset Lifecycle Solutions – who have both been supported through LCEI.  They shared their experience of working with LCEI and the benefits it had brought to their businesses.

Dr Urmila Jha-Thakur, a Senior Lecturer and Director of the MSc Environmental Assessment and Management Programme Director with the University of Liverpool’s School of Environmental Science, also gave a presentation about the positive impact and experience LCEI had given participating students.

She highlighted the fantastic industry experience students had gained and the intern opportunities created for students through LCEI, as well as celebrating the success of the mutually beneficial collaborations that the programme had delivered this year.

The Low Carbon Eco-Innovatory (LCEI) is supported with £1.7 million funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund (UKSPF), with the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority as the lead authority.
