Enter the Images of Research photography competition 2025

Photographer

The Research Staff Association’s annual Images of Research Photography Competition is now open for entries.

This popular event invites researchers to creatively share their work through thought-provoking photographs. It’s a unique opportunity to showcase your research – or your own research journey – to colleagues, visitors, and the wider University community.

Selected images will be displayed in the café at the Victoria Gallery & Museum and at the Research Staff Conference on Wednesday 3 December, where this year’s winners will be announced.

Submit your entry by Monday 10 November

Why take part?

A picture tells a thousand words – and a striking image can spark real interest in your research and career. Whether you’re just starting out or have years of experience, the competition is a great way to celebrate and promote the impact of your work.

We’re delighted to once again collaborate with the Victoria Gallery & Museum, giving visitors a chance to enjoy the creativity and ambition of our research community.

Prize categories

This year there are two exciting categories:

  • Showcase Your Research
Highlight your research in action – from study samples or field sites, to experimental setups, archives, architecture, or findings. (Please ensure you have permission if people appear in your photo.)
  • Researcher Journey
Tell the story of your own research path: the places your work or studies have taken you, challenges you’ve overcome, milestones achieved, or any moment that captures your personal research journey.
