The University of Liverpool has been awarded seven Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Postdoctoral Fellowships under the Horizon Europe programme.
This is one of the most successful application rounds achieved by the University in this programme, which is the main European instrument for promoting and supporting the careers of young researchers.
MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships support outstanding researchers seeking to enhance their skills and careers through international mobility, training, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
Six of the seven Fellowship projects are in the Faculty of Science and Engineering (of which three are in Computer Science) with another one Fellowship awarded to the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences and one Fellowship in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences is on the reserve list.
The successful projects are:
- Advanced imaging techniques for assessing the potential of a cell therapy to improve the health of ex vivo perfused marginal kidneys (Department of Women’s & Children’s Health)
- Advanced learning for generalizable and reliable robotic skills (Department of Computer Science)
- DETAIL-Interact: Dynamic Engagement and Tailored Interactive Learning for Advanced Robotic Systems (Department of Computer Science)
- Fluid-Rock Interactions for Environmental Sustainability (Department of Earth, Ocean and Ecological Sciences)
- Quantum Synthesis (Department of Computer Science)
- Accelerated quantification of photolytic hydrogen using multi-fidelity Bayesian optimization and automation (Department of Chemistry)
- AI-enabled design and optimization of fully coupled wind-wave integrated floating energy system (Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering).
The MSCA postdoctoral fellowships last for two years and funding for these new positions amounts to more than £1.5 million.
