Student Email: Stay in the Loop
Your student email is your lifeline to University communications. Access it via the Student Intranet or directly at outlook.office.com using your IT (MWS) account (e.g. username@liverpool.ac.uk). Once you have activated your IT (MWS) account, you’ll receive a welcome email with more details about your account.
Expect regular updates from tutors, lecturers, and University services—including a weekly Careers & Employability newsletter packed with events and opportunities.
My Liverpool App: Your Campus Companion
Designed to enhance your student experience, the My Liverpool app lets you:
- Browse and plan events
- Access support services
- Use your digital library card to enter and exit library barriers
- View and renew borrowed books

Student Intranet: Your Digital Hub
The Student Intranet is your gateway to everything academic and administrative. When you log into a Managed Windows Service (MWS) computer on campus, it opens automatically. From here, you can access:
- Email and timetable
- Canvas (modules and assignments)
- Liverpool Life (student records)
- Library and printing accounts
- IT Services Desk and study support
OneDrive & Office 365: Work Smarter
Once you have activated your IT account you will have access to your University OneDrive for Business file storage space. This is part of the Office 365 offering which is available to all students.
You should save your files to your OneDrive so that they are available from anywhere, on any device at any time, secure and regularly backed up.
All students get Office 365 free—so make the most of it!
Canvas: Learning Without Limits
Canvas is the University’s virtual learning environment. Lecturers use it to share course materials, assessments, and collaborative tools like discussion boards and group assignments. Log in once your account is activated and stay on top of your studies from anywhere.
PCs & Printing: Find What You Need Fast
Need a free PC on campus? Use the PC Finder tool to locate available machines based on software or proximity to friends. Printing options are also available across campus—learn more via the intranet.
Handshake: Your Career Starts Here
Handshake is your go-to platform for careers and employability. With it, you can:
- Discover exclusive job listings
- Attend career events (online and on-campus)

Accessibility: Support That Works for You
The University offers a range of assistive technologies for students with disabilities. One-to-one training is available—usually arranged when collecting allocated hardware/software. You can also book training by emailing atsupport@liverpool.ac.uk.
Free Software & Security
