Professor Simon Jones, the University of Liverpool Dean for XJTLU, welcomed the new 2+2 students from Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) at a reception held in the Guild of Students on 25th September. The event also celebrated the academic achievements of both ‘XJTLU Excellence Award’ scholarship recipients and final year students in receipt of the ‘Dean’s List Award’.
Established in 2006, XJTLU is a joint venture between the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University, delivering Liverpool degrees in China and offering students the opportunity to transfer to Liverpool through 2+2 or 2+1+1 study routes. Liverpool students can also study in China through the flagship ‘Year in China’ programme.
This year’s intake marks the 17th cohort of XJTLU students joining Liverpool, continuing a long-standing academic partnership that has seen over 16,000 students articulate throughout the duration of the partnership.
Celebrating Academic Excellence
As part of the evening’s celebrations, students were recognised for their outstanding academic achievements. Recipients of the XJTLU Excellence Award – a scholarship offering a 25% reduction in tuition fees were presented with certificates, whilst Dean’s List certificates were awarded to final-year 2+2 students who ranked in the top three of their academic disciplines.
Fun, Games and Community Spirit
The evening also featured a lively games session, which saw enthusiastic participation from students. A variety of fun challenges and interactive activities gave attendees a chance to bond with each other and develop informal mentor relationships across the year groups.
Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to connect with key University services, including Careers and Employability, the Wellbeing team, and the Guild of Students.
