Sale of former Carnatic Halls site completed

The University of Liverpool has completed the sale of the former Carnatic Halls of Residence site to Bellway Homes.

The sale is part of the University’s long-term residential strategy which has seen £250 million invested in upgrading and expanding the University’s student accommodation offering. This included the development of Vine Court and Crown Place on campus, and Greenbank Student Village close to Sefton Park.

The University worked closely with Liverpool City Council and Bellway Homes to facilitate the sale of the 22-acre site.  The area will be transformed into a new, high-quality residential development, known as Carnatic Park, featuring 143 homes.

Carnatic Halls of Residence, which officially opened in 1964, accommodated thousands of students over the decades before closing in 2019. The site holds special memories for many University of Liverpool graduates.
