As the last weeks of term roll in, Liverpool is transforming into a winter wonderland and there’s plenty happening both on campus and across the city to help you unwind, recharge, and soak up some festive cheer.
What’s On: Guildmas Edition
The Guild is going full festive this year with its Guildmas events programme, perfect if you need some light relief from assignments.
Expect:
- Crafternoon sessions where you can make festive decorations
- A Festive Edition Movie Night (bring your mates and a massive bag of snacks)
- The legendary Big Festive Quiz, ideal for teams who take trivia way too seriously

Christmas Carol Concert, Monday 8 December
The University’s Catholic and Anglican chaplaincies are joining forces for a special campus carol concert. It’s a warm, reflective way to mark the start of the season, plus, who doesn’t love belting out a few classics?
Time and date: The concert takes place on Monday, 8 December at 6pm, and will run for around an hour.
Location: St Phillip Neri Church, 30 Catherine Street, L8 7NL (a short walk from campus)
Liverpool Christmas Market
Just a short walk from campus, the Liverpool Christmas Market is back and bigger than ever.
Think: mulled wine, Yorkshire pudding wraps, handmade crafts, churros, gifts you’ll buy “for someone else” but accidentally keep yourself…
It was recently named one of the best Christmas markets in the UK, so consider this your sign to go for a wander.
Ice Skating & Festive Village at BOXPARK ICEBOX
Get your skates on at BOXPARK’s new ICEBOX experience. Grab a hot chocolate and enjoy the cosy festive village atmosphere right in the heart of the city.
It’s the perfect cold-weather date idea. Or friend date. Or solo main character moment!
Festive Walks around the Royal Albert Dock
If you’re craving a quieter outing, take a winter stroll around the Royal Albert Dock. The whole waterfront is lit up for the season, reflecting across the water in that very Instagrammable way. Great for clearing your head or taking cute flatmate photos.

Liverpool Cathedral Carol Services & Immersive Lights
Liverpool Cathedral always goes big for December, with everything from candlelit services to creative workshops. The standout this year is The Light Before Christmas: The Gift —a breathtaking immersive light and sound experience inside the cathedral.
