Graduating this December? Here’s what happens to your IT account after graduation

If you’re graduating this December, here’s some important information about what happens to your University IT account.

Your University of Liverpool IT account

Your IT account – including your University email, M Drive, Canvas and access to most University systems – will close shortly after your official end date or your graduation day, if later. IT Services will send you an email a couple of weeks before it happens to let you know.

What you need to do

Before your account closes, make sure you:

Once your account is closed, we can’t recover any files, so it’s worth taking a few minutes now to make sure you have everything you need.

Email access

Unless you have a confirmed place for postgraduate study at the University of Liverpool or become a staff member, your email will close and we cannot provide access after this has happened.

Thinking about postgraduate study?

If you’ve secured a place for postgraduate study at the University or become a staff member, your account will automatically transition, and you will keep your email, username, and access to relevant systems.

If your place isn’t confirmed before your end date, your account will close, and you’ll receive new onboarding details once your place is confirmed.

What is still available to you after graduation

You’ll still have access to:

Stay in touch with the University and access your alumni benefits

Our Alumni Relations team invites you to provide a valid personal email to stay in touch via this form. By updating your contact details, you’ll continue to receive University updates, alumni newsletters, exclusive benefits, and event invitations after graduation.
