Following the escalation of conflict in the Middle East over the weekend, our teams are monitoring events in the region.
We have a small number of staff currently in, travelling to or through, the affected regions on University business. We have identified and contacted these colleagues over the weekend, to confirm that they are safe.
We are also identifying and contacting directly our staff and students who have declared links to the affected areas, with information about the range of support and practical assistance the University has on offer.
Personal safety is paramount and where relevant, colleagues due to travel have been asked to take alternative routes to reach their destination or cancel their plans. The University is advising all members of our community to check any current plans to travel to, or within, the affected regions to check the latest travel advice from the UK Government as well as advice as appropriate on travel disruption.
These are particularly difficult times for anyone with family and friends in the affected regions. Please continue to demonstrate kindness, empathy and understanding to each other.
