The University of Liverpool has launched a new strategy to build on its existing position as a world-leading institution for research and education, in order to break into the top 100 institutions globally in time for its 150th anniversary in 2031.
‘Liverpool 2031’ outlines a new vision for the University, which will shape the way it further develops world-class research and teaching. The strategy also details objectives to extend the University’s global footprint through new and existing strategic partnerships and further developing its globally connected community.

Liverpool 2031 builds on the successes of the University’s Strategy 2026 and marks the start of an ambitious new chapter under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor, Professor Tim Jones.
Professor Tim Jones said: “The University of Liverpool is a remarkable place, powered by academic excellence and the attributes of our famous home city, with a true spirit of creativity, originality, welcoming to all and committed to social responsibility. Ideas born here have long transformed societies and industries, touching millions of lives around the world and making an impact that really matters.
“Driven by our values and our diverse community of colleagues, students and alumni, we will, more than ever, make ground-breaking discoveries that shape the future, empower individuals to become changemakers, and inspire students to fulfil their academic and personal ambitions.
“We know these plans are ambitious, but with our remarkable University community and the support of our many partner organisations in Liverpool and around the world, we are confident that, together, we will achieve them.”
