Liverpool University Press Director takes on prestigious global role

Anthony Cond, Director of Liverpool University Press (LUP), has taken up the prestigious role of President of the Association of University Presses (AUPresses) Board of Directors.

AUPresses is a community of publishing professionals and institutions committed to the highest calibre of research-based scholarship. Together, they advocate for the fundamental role of scholarly publishing in achieving academic excellence and in cultivating and disseminating knowledge.

Anthony is the Association’s first non-North American President and succeeds 2023-2024 President Jane Bunker, director of the Cornell University Press. He has led LUP since 2008, during which time it has been acknowledged by the Bookseller and the Independent Publishers Guild as the UK’s Academic Publisher of the Year.

This year also marks LUP’s 125th anniversary. Throughout the year, LUP is celebrating by sharing special blog posts, offering opportunities for Early Career Researchers, arranging giveaways, and sharing free-to-read books and journals content.

Anthony Cond said: “I am honoured to have been elected into this prestigious role and to be representing Liverpool University Press on a global platform. The Association has a collective superpower in the potential breadth of perspectives open to us—from presses around the world and from University Press professionals at all career stages. Providing a sustainable, high-quality forum to amplify humanities scholarship has never felt more important.”
