
The University’s Ness Botanic Gardens is inviting visitors to join them for family Halloween fun this October…if you dare.
Ness is hosting a series of children’s workshops during the autumn half term which will give little ones a chance to dress up, get messy and have a frighteningly good time.
There are activities for all different ages and don’t forget to book when prompted to avoid disappointment.
What’s on
Halloween Family Trail
Saturday, 25 October until Monday, 3 November, between 10.30am and 3.30pm
Up for an adventure? Follow the family trail arrows to uncover a Halloween mystery. Keep your eyes peeled for clues, and see if you can solve the conundrum in the heart of the gardens.
Don’t forget to bring your own pens or crayons, or you can purchase a pencil from the shop.
The Halloween Family Trail is ideal for those aged 5-12 years old and access is included in your general garden admission. It takes approx. 40 minutes to complete.
Halloween show
Thursday, 30 October at 11.30am and 1pm
This Halloween, prepare for spine-tingling fun and enchanted surprises at The Spooky Spectacular, Ness Gardens’ popular magic and storytelling show.
Join Mortomus Spook as he conjures up curious creatures, tells hilarious stories, and makes ghostly giggles echo through the autumn leaves.
With tricks, treats, and lots of laughs, it’s the perfect Halloween adventure for young witches, wizards, and brave little ghouls. Don your costume, grab your wand, and leave your nerves at the entrance!
This show is suitable for all ages and lasts approx. 30 minutes.
Cost is £5 per person and booking is essential. Book your places now to avoid disappointment.
Halloween biscuits and crafts
Thursday, 30 October at 10.30am, 12pm and 1pm (30 min slots)
If sweet treats and crafts is a favourite with your youngsters, sign up for Ness’s Halloween biscuits and crafts session.
Each child will get to decorate three Halloween themed biscuits and create a Halloween craft to take home with them. Dress up is strongly encouraged to get into the spirit!
This crafting session is suitable for ages 3 and up and booking is essential as only those with a reserved spot will receive biscuits and materials.
The cost is £6 per child and admission to the gardens is not included. Book your place(s).

Halloween Family Workshop
Wednesday, 29 October, 10.30am to 12pm or 1pm to 2.30pm
This extended workshop is for any little ghouls or ghosts out there with a curiosity for our creepy eight-legged friends!
Take a short investigative walk to spot our resident garden spiders and create your own spiderweb for decorating your house.
This workshop is great for those aged 5 and older and booking is essential so Ness can allocate crafting materials.
The cost is £5 per child and admission to the gardens is not included. Book your place(s).
