On Wednesday 6 May, students and staff gathered across the University of Liverpool campus to celebrate the 20th anniversary of XJTLU with a vibrant cultural event.
Beginning on University Square, the celebration opened with a student Chinese dance and dragon dance performances, watched by students, staff, and visitors. Accompanied by the sound of drums and cheers from the audience, the dragon dancers led a lively procession through campus towards Abercromby Square. A student choir also performed the XJTLU anthem.
The event also featured a special speech from Professor Simon Jones, Dean for Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. In his remarks, Professor Jones reflected on the remarkable growth of XJTLU since its founding in 2006 and praised the ongoing partnership between the University of Liverpool and Xi’an Jiaotong University. He also thanked students, alumni, and staff for their contributions to the success of the venture.
As part of the celebration, students and staff were invited to share well wishes for XJTLU, expressing their hopes for its future and celebrating the friendships and opportunities it represents.
