Senior lecturer speaks at Age UK event

A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Eye and Vision Sciences has given a talk about the progress of Liverpool-based research to the national charity Age UK.

Dr Luminita Paraoan, and colleagues Natalie Pollock and Laura Currie from the Institute of Ageing and Chronic Disease attended the Canal Boat Dinner, a successful fundraising event held in Chester and spoke about research into the causes of eye diseases such as age-related macular degeneration.

Formed by the union of Age Concern and Help the Aged, the charity works at the forefront to influence public policy, research, services and expertise in later life specialisms and supports the full spectrum of older age-related health problems and diseases while also aiming to build capacity in biomedical ageing research in the UK.

Age UK supports research in the institute in areas as diverse as causes of sight loss, muscle loss and other life limiting and isolating conditions in the older population.
